Make a reusable Field verify note
Start with the markup you want to repeat. This example uses a revision cloud and a separate text box reading Field verify. Draw the cloud around the detail, then place the text box just above it and type the note.
A reusable markup is useful for a recurring shop-drawing comment because you can retain the same wording and appearance. The sample is a review reminder, not a statement that a site dimension has already been verified.
Group the cloud and text box before saving
Drag a selection box around both pieces and press Ctrl+G. Grouping the PDF markups lets the cloud and note save as one item rather than making you place them separately each time.
The recording deliberately uses a cloud with a separate text box. Follow that demonstrated combination for this lesson; it does not demonstrate saving a grouped callout or every possible annotation type.
Add the group to the Tool Chest
Right-click the group and choose Add to Tool Chest. Give the saved markup a recognisable name, such as Field verify, and click OK. A useful name makes the item easier to find when your list of saved tools grows.
Open the Tool Chest tab in the left sidebar. Alt+X is the shortcut shown in the lesson; the recording opens the tab with a click. The newly saved markup appears at the bottom of the list.
Select both pieces
Select the cloud and text box, then group them with Ctrl+G.
Save the group
Right-click, choose Add to Tool Chest, name the item and confirm.
Find the saved item
Open the Tool Chest tab and look at the bottom of the list.
Place it again
Click the item, move onto the drawing and click where it should go.
Place the same drawing note again
Click the saved Tool Chest item, move over the drawing and click to place it. Select the item again for the next placement. The video places the saved note twice, keeping the text and cloud together.
This is a way to repeat a PDF annotation without redrawing it. Review the location and wording each time: a saved note should still be relevant to that detail. The lesson demonstrates reuse on a drawing, not automatic distribution of tools to other team members.
Common questions
How do I save a cloud and note as one PDF markup?
Select the cloud and separate text box, press Ctrl+G, then right-click the group and choose Add to Tool Chest. This is the exact combination shown in the video.
Where is a newly saved Tool Chest item?
The tutorial shows the new item at the bottom of the Tool Chest list in the left sidebar. Give it a distinctive name when saving it.
What are the group and Tool Chest shortcuts?
Ctrl+G groups the selected markups. Alt+X is the Tool Chest shortcut. The recording demonstrates grouping with Ctrl+G and opening the Tool Chest by clicking its tab.
Is this a shared team markup library?
This lesson shows saving and reusing a markup in the desktop Tool Chest. It does not demonstrate team-library synchronisation or automatically sharing saved tools with colleagues.
